Preserve Anvil Farm Fields and Woodlands
The Town of Boxford has secured an option to acquire the approximately 28 acres of farm fields. The agreed upon purchase price is $3.0 million. A total of $1.5M has already been raised from private funds and a campaign is underway to raise the remaining $100,000. The remaining $1.4 million will come from the town, which includes some matching State funds. It is unusual for a town purchase to be this much leveraged by private funds. The Facella family who currently owns and farms the land has the option to continue to farm the fields for a defined period of time.
